FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you have a question about some of the terminology used when talking about Skin Mounts or Fish Reproductions? Here are some answers
to common questions.
If you're still not sure about anything to do with your trophy fishmount,
call or email Dave, won't you?
Q. What does Fish Shape mean?
A.When Dave begins work on mounting your trophy fish, he can shape the fish pretty much as desired. Some folks like the
fish shaped as if in a turn, others prefer a mount with a shape of the fish leaping, or gently swimming.
While you are in the process of deciding if your trophy fish is to be plaque mounted or in a diorama / habitat scene, think about the final
shape in which you would like your fish to mounted.
Q. What does Gills Open or Closed mean?
A.Some folks like the look of the fish gills to be flared, with the brilliant red of the gill
innards flashing in the light. Others don't want the gills to be visible, preferring instead that viewers focus on the overall look of the
trophy mount. It's your choice.
Q. Can I take my trophy mount across borders?
A. The simple answer is...yes you can. Skinmounts present more of a challenge than reproductions. Discuss your needs with Dave.
Q. Do you ship trophy mounts?
A. Dave's had years of experience in shipping trophy mounts domestically and internationally. He's perfected a crating process
that guarantees that your trophy mount will arrive in perfect condition. Where do you need Dave to ship yours?
Q. What do I do if I'm in a lodge in Northern Ontario, or anywhere for that matter, and I want Dave to trophy mount my fish?
A. Normally lodge owners have a lot of experience with handling trophy fish. You need to wrap the fish (not cleaned) in a soft cloth
or paper towel and get it into the freezer as soon as possible. Talk to the lodge owner and local courier (UPS / Purolator etc.) about
transporting frozen fish. They may even have a container and a source for dry ice. If your trophy is wrapped and packed in dry ice, it will
still be in pristine condition when it gets to Dave's workshop.
Q. How long does it take to get my trophy mount?
A. There are many steps involved in creating your trophy mount, and some take quite some time. Currently, from receipt of the fish
we're estimating about 9 months to ship date. This may change depending on the work in progress. Ask Dave for an estimate when you call.
Q. How long does a trophy mount last?
A. More than a lifetime, provided that the mount has been expertly built (like Dave's are), the mount is kept dry, and is placed in
a stable environment. Trophy fishmounts do not take kindly to significant temperature or humidity changes, and this may have an effect on
the life of your mount.
